Group Class at SPOT

$350 for 6 weeks

Rolling Puppy Socialization Class

$35 per class 


Puppy Socialization Class

Runs every Monday at 7:30pm at SPOT Upper East Side

First class free! (if puppy is 12 weeks or under)  $35 per class, $120 for four classes

Puppy Socialization Class is the perfect way to get your pup NYC ready! Each week a puppy topic is covered (i.e., Chewing, nipping, jumping, etc) followed by a focus cue (look or touch). The remainder of the class is off leash, so the puppy can learn how to play and owners can learn about their dog’s body language and signals. We end with session or course? desensitization to handling sounds and wheels! Puppy Socialization Class is perfect for puppies ages 8 weeks to eighteen weeks.  All puppies must be under 14 weeks for their first class!

Please note, we require proof of negative fecal sample from your local vet for all attendance and RSVP. 


Puppy Kindergarten Class

$350 for a six-week cycle

Starting Tuesday January 16th, 7:30pm @ Spot Midtown West

Starting Thursday January 23rd, 8:30pm  @ Spot Chelsea

This class is for pups who aren’t quite ready to learn for a whole hour straight in a basic obedience class. This class will split its time between off leash play and teaching the basic cues: Look, Touch, Sit, Down, Stay, Leave it, Walking, and Come! We will also help you with anti jumping techniques and handling exercises and cover basic puppy topics.

Pups must be:

  • Under 5 months old
  • Up to date on current vaccinations
  • Proof of a negative fecal sample
  • Not attending the dog parks


Basic Obedience Class

$350 for a six-week cycle

Starting Sunday January 14th, 12pm @ SPOT Tribeca

Tuesday January 16th,  8:30pm @ SPOT Midtown West

Thursday January 11th, 7:45pm @ SPOT Upper East Side

 

Basic Obedience Class is great for dogs of any age who are ready to work on basic commands such as: sit, down, stay, leave-it, come and loose leash walking. We also work on impulse control and anti-jumping exercises. Class is full of natural distractions, so even if you have a few of these cues already, it is a great environment to work in to increase difficulty. This class is also a great way to strengthen the bond between you and your dog!

Intermediate Obedience Class

$350 for a six-week cycle

Thursday November 30th, 7:45pm at SPOT Upper East Side

The Intermediate course is designed for dogs who have basic training skills and is perfect for graduates of our Basic Obedience Class. The class concentrates on refining the basic skills and challenging the dogs. Our class covers behaviors on cue at a distance with increasing distractions, instant recalls away from distractions, college level "leave its", advanced (and fun) impulse control exercises, a few impressive tricks, and more.


Canine Overachievers Class

$350 for a six-week cycle

Have you completed our Basic and Intermediate Obedience Class and find yourself wanting to learn more? Do you enjoy spending time with your dog and training them to do new things? Then this is the class for you! Learn how to get your dog to come away from other dogs or toys when called! Learn how to get your dog to do a precision down when you call out as they run back to you! Teach your dog to heel on leash past distractions like other dogs or FOOD! And best of all, play fun games testing your dog's reliability against your classmates!

Prerequisite to register: All dogs must possess basic Down, Stay, Leave it, and other basic recall commands.


Off Leash and Learn

$350 for a six-week cycle

Starting Thursday January 23rd, 8:30pm @ SPOT Chelsea

This class is designed for dogs who play nicely with other dogs but need extra help learning to listen when they are otherwise occupied with play.  This class will brush up on recall and other cues around dogs on and off leash. This is Ideal for dogs 5months to two years old with a basic or intermediate training background but exceptions can be made. Dogs of extreme sizes (tiny or huge!) may have to be held or leashed at times depending on the makeup of the class.

All dogs must be:

  • Friendly with other dogs and people
  • Play nicely off leash
  • Have no bite history
  • No Signs of resource guarding (good with other dogs being near their food, toys, owners, etc.)
  • Have basic obedience cues such as: Sit, Down, Stay, Come commands. (Leave it would also be ideal but not mandatory)

Your dog must possess a solid Sit/Down/Stay/Leave-it commands.  This class is great for dog(s) who have completed our Basic Obedience Class.

Mind Your Manners!    

A class designated to impulse control and manners in NYC!

$350 for a six-week cycle

Next class starts Sunday January 14th , 3pm at SPOT Tribeca

In this class we will help your dog learn to control their impulses. They will learn to focus on you while being around other dogs and major distractions. Advanced Stays and Leave-it commands will be worked on as well as Place/Mat work to help your dog relax. We also teach no jumping and emergency recalls during class.  Our goal is for your dog to be able to focus their attention while being on the busy streets of NYC, in the elevator, and all other distractions.

Your dog must possess Sit/Down/Stay/Leave-it commands.  A great class for dog(s) who have completed the Basic Obedience Class.


Wallflower/Shy Dog Class

$300 for a six-week cycle

Next Class starts Monday December 11th at 8:30pm, @ SPOT Upper East Side

The Wallflower class is an socialization class for adult dogs who are shy around other dogs and need to learn how to play and build confidence. We also focus on wheels ( i.e. skateboard, scooter, bikes, etc.), canes, crutches, handling, new people, general distracting sounds, and children.

Private session required before entry into class.


Difficult Dog Class

$375 for a six-week cycle

Difficult Dog Class course is open to all dogs whose behavior problems prevent them from attending a regular group training class. This class is most effective as part of a treatment and management program for reactivity to people or dogs. This class provides a supervised setting for desensitization and counterconditioning sessions. The class also covers installing useful behaviors such as "leave it" and "watch me"on cue in the presence of the stimulus that causes reactivity.

Students develop advanced handling and management skills and learn how to use the clicker as a tool in treating dog behavior problems. Students learn how to shape relaxation in their tense dogs. Each dog must have a behavior evaluation and training session prior to beginning the class.

Tricks Class

$350 for a six-week cycle

Next Class starts Tuesday October 31st, 8:30pm at SPOT Chelsea

This fun and challenging 6 week course covers crowd pleasers like "spin," "high five," "dance," "rollover" and jumping through hoops. You and your dog can enjoy inventing flashy tricks after you master show business training techniques such as luring and free shaping. Trick training is a great way for both you and your dog to hone your training skills, and build your relationship. And impress your friends! Your dog must already know 'Sit' and 'Down' commands in order to register to take the class.


Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Preparation + Test Class:

$350 for a six-week cycle

Starting Sunday January 14th at 1pm, @ SPOT Tribeca

This class preps for and administers the CGC test for your dog.

The CGC class teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners. The 10-step Canine Good Citizen test is a non-competitive test for all dogs, including purebreds and mixed breeds. The CGC award is a prerequisite for many therapy dog groups. Some homeowner’s insurance companies are encouraging CGC testing, and an increasing number of apartments and condos require that resident dogs pass the CGC test.

Dogs must be older than 16 weeks and must know basic Sit and Down commands.
