Shelby Semel New York City Dog Training :: Shelby Semel, Senior Trainer & Founder

  • Shelby Semel is the real deal! Her fresh, positive approach to dog training and care is by far the best I have come across. She has worked miracles with, my rescue dog and taught us how to properly train our puppy. I thought the way I was showering my rescue dog with love was all good, but through Shelby I learned that certain things I was doing was actually causing anxiety in my dog. Her classes and one-on-one training are vital for proper dog care. Please learn her techniques! Every dog deserves it.

  • I would definitely recommend Shelby’s classes. It has been an informative and fun experience! My puppy is a bit of a terror and after two classes with Shelby he has improved immensely. Shelby has given me simple tools to use and they have changed my Pomeranian! The classes are no more than eight puppy’s and give each dog a chance to socialize/learn. Again, it has been a great experience and I would recommend these classes highly!

  • I feel so lucky to have found Shelby. She is an amazing trainer and has a really special talent for bonding with dogs. We used Shelby for a private lesson to teach our puppy some commands and get him on a feeding/bathroom schedule. Our dog now knows all his basic commands thanks to Shelby’s patient teaching. Shelby brought so many great materials and handouts and what I love about her, is she’s always so available and responsive over email even after your lesson. I also take my puppy to her classes at running paws which have been excellent. They’re a great opportunity for my puppy to learn and socialize in a safe and clean environment and Shelby keeps the classes small and intimate so they’re not overwhelming for owners or animals. She has also offered to set up play dates for our dog and been so helpful during a time when I am physically unable to do a lot with my dog. I’d recommend Shelby without a doubt, over any other trainer in this city, to anyone who wants a truly smart and caring person who loves her job, to train your dog. I’d give her 10 STARS if I could!!

  • Cannot say enough about Shelby! She is soooo smart, knowledgeable, caring, an all-around sweetheart who cannot do enough for her clients and doggies! She is the best in the biz and everything we learned was because of Shelby. Both her classes and personal dog training sessions were so beyond helpful and she is simply a JOY! The best... can’t recommend her enough. Look no further, truly!

  • Shelby is a godsend. My Yorkie started attending her puppy classes at 12 weeks and was terrified. It was great to watch his confidence grow each week in a safe and loving environment. I’ve heard horror stories about other puppy classes, but Shelby has a ton of staff on hand and pays attention to every pup. We’ve also done a few private training sessions, and I am blown away by her knowledge and skills. Not only has she helped improve my dogs behavior, but she’s helped calm my nerves and anxiety as well :)
